WHAT’S HAPPENING AT WHITE RHINO ARTSPACE IN 2023?

Dear Artists and Art Lovers,

First of all we would like to thank you for your support during 2022. It was great to have a less interrupted year and bring some exciting exhibitions to you, to partake in or enjoy.

Moving on to 2023, we have a few surprises in store.

The vision for our gallery has always been to support emerging and female artists.

In 2023, we have decided to turn this focus onto our own careers as curators and artists, by taking a year long sabbatical.

In between working on our independent creative practices, we are also excited to be undertaking some travel which has been on hold for several years. From time to time we will keep you up to date with our various projects whilst ‘on safari’ for the year and let you know our plans for returning in 2024.

In the meantime, we have engaged with Katherine Kennedy from Nationwide Curating, who will take over the White Rhino Artspace premises at Level 1, 62 Atchison Road, St Leonards. Katherine comes with a broad range of curatorial and gallery management offerings and will be bringing more fabulous art to the TWT Creative Precinct, in which the space is located. We trust that you will pop in and welcome Katherine at Gallery NWC which we encourage you to visit.

Details about Nationwide Curating can be found here. If you would like to keep up to date with events run by Katherine, or exhibit at the space, please subscribe to her newsletter via the link on her website.

Upon reflection of our journey at White Rhino Artspace so far, we feel proud to have hosted and/or curated a total of:

44 exhibitions and

represented 180 artists

since October 2018.

The initial vision for White Rhino Artspace was realised by founding directors Regula, Tracy Stirzaker and Catie Sully, with Nicole Wallace joining Regula in 2020 - continuing together to encourage artists to 'Create, Exhibit and Connect'.

We feel strongly that accessibility within the arts ecology is critical for emerging artists, and that art spaces, such as White Rhino, are important to help launch, nurture and support the careers of talented artists - many of whom have firmly established their careers within Australia’s creative arts sector.

Please continue to follow us @whiterhinoartspace on Instagram to see what we’re up to, as well as Nicole @curatus.co. Regula will be in touch soon about her new Instagram account.

For now, we would like to wish you all a very

Happy 2023,

enjoying and creating art. We thank you for your incredible support and being part of our creative community which has brought together like minded people to exhibit, connect and create.

Thank you!

Regula and Nicole
